Fans’ Most Valuable Player

In addition to ING’s sponsorship of the AFC matches, ING is also the sponsor of the Most Valuable Player award in many of the tournaments.

Chosen by a technical study group coordinated by the AFC, the most valuable player is the athlete who contributes most to the tournament in terms of consistency of play, ability to influence matches and overall attitude.

In 2007, the AFC Asian Cup saw the Iraqi captain (and forward) Younis Mahmoud win the title. He was also one of three players to score the most goals (four) over the tournament.

Concurrently, ING aims to give fans the chance to name their most valuable player.

Over each tournament, people can vote for the player they think will be the best over that tournament. The winning player is the one with the most votes.

The names of the people that selected this layer are entered into a draw, with the winner picked.

Details of the next competition will be launched on 6 September 2008 as the first matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers kick off.
